T.D. Jakes Stable after Scary Medical Emergency During Sunday Sermon
After a health scare while delivering his Sunday sermon, prayers are still pouring for Bishop T.D. Jakes, the founding pastor of the Potter’s House Church, a mega-church based in Dallas, United States.
In a shocking moment that went viral , the energetic preacher froze on stage Sunday while rounding up an hour-long sermon as he lowered his mic and began to shudder. A crowd of people quickly rushed over and surrounded him on stage.
Just like his fiery sermons that attract worldwide audience, the medical emergency went viral real time as Potter’s House Church leaders called for urgent intercessory prayers for the highly revered Bishop.
“Bishop Jakes is a once-in-a-generation gospel giant,” Haynes said in a statement to CBS News Texas. “We are praying for him, his family and for the Potter’s House.”
As the scary scene unfolded, a livestream of the sermon suddenly stopped – and was replaced by an off-camera voice telling those in attendance and those looking on from home to ‘begin to pray.’
Shortly after, Jakes’ team offered a brief explanation on the pastor’s X page, while offering some insight on the senior’s condition.
‘During today’s service, Bishop TD Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message,’ the statement read.
The statement offered hope as it insisted that “Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals.”
The Potter’s House is a non-denominational, multicultural church founded by Jakes in 1996. According to the church’s website, it has more than 30,000 members and is consistently ranked among the largest and most influential churches in the U.S.
Jakes has also counseled former presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush and was a featured speaker at Obama’s 2009 inauguration
