President-elect of Ghana, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, has appointed a team of highly experienced individuals to oversee the transition of power following his victory in the 2024 presidential election, the Adom.Online has reported.
The team has as co-Chairman, Chief Julius Debrah, a versatile public administrator who served as Chief of Staff to Mahama in his first term as President.
The announcement was made through a press release signed by Sammy Gyamfi Esq., a spokesperson for the President-elect.
According to Gyamfi, the appointments were made in line with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (ACT 845), which mandates the establishment of a Transition Team to facilitate a smooth handover of political power from the outgoing administration.
The newly appointed Transition Team will collaborate closely with representatives from the outgoing government to ensure a seamless transition of leadership and the effective continuity of governance.
The team comprises individuals with significant experience in various sectors such as finance, governance, and public administration.
The 2024 Transition Team comprises:
1. Hon. Julius Debrah – Co-Chairperson
2. Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia – Member
3. Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey – Member
4. Dr. Callistus Mahama – Member/Secretary to the Transition Team
5. Dr. Valerie Sawyer – Member
6. Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi – Member
7. Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson – Member
8. Hon. Mahama Ayariga – Member
9. Hon. Goosie Tanoh – Member
10. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah – Member
In addition to the Transition Team, President-elect Mahama has also nominated Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho as a member of the Transitional Advisory Council, tasked with offering guidance and support during the transition period.
This step is part of Mahama’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient transition process, with a focus on strengthening democratic governance and continuing the development of the country.
The appointed team members, with their wealth of experience and expertise, are expected to work diligently to achieve a seamless transition that will set the stage for the incoming administration to hit the ground running
