The Atalanta forward has been named the African Player of the Year at the prestigious 2024 Confederation of African Football Awards at a glittering ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday, December 16, 2024.
Lookman shoved aside strong competition to cap an exceptional season for both club and country.
The Super Eagles dazzling forward edged out Morocco’s (and PSG’s) Achraf Hakimi, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra and South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, to claim the coveted prize.
With the award, the Marquee Atalanta forward becomes the sixth Nigerian player to clinch the prestigious Player of the Year diadem.
Lookman has had a sensational year, filling his numerous fans with raptures of joy with his incredible skill, blistering pace, clinical finishing, and superlative goals.
He was pivotal to his Serie A club, Atalanta’s success in the UEFA Europa League, as well as Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
