Home-based Super Eagles Qualify for CHAN 2025,; Beat Ghana 3-1
Nigeria’s Team B national team, popularly called CHAN Super Eagles have qualified for next year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) thrashing Ghana’s Black Galaxies 3-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday.
The CHAN Super Eagles secured the ticket in the first half with three unreplied goals before Ghana reduced the tally by one in the second half.
The first leg had ended goalless in Accra, the Ghanaian capital.
Remo Stars, Sodiq Ismail and Nduka Junior put Nigeria ahead within the first 22 minutes, with Rangers’ Kazeem Ogunleye securing victory with a third goal in the 25th minute.
Ghana’s Stephen Amankuna reduced the tally in the 73rd minute when he scored his team’s consolatory goal.
This victory was particularly sweet for the Super Eagles Team B, as it came against a Ghana side that had previously denied them CHAN qualification in 2008 and 2022.
Nigeria will now compete in the 2025 CHAN, co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania from February 1 to 25.
They will aim to better their previous best performance, which saw them finish as runners-up in 2018.
