A popular Kannywood actress, Samha M. Inuwa, has run into the proverbial hot water as the Kano State Censorship Board has revoked her operating licence for allegedly violating the board’s regulations on indecent dressing and vulgar content posting, among others.

The revocation was announced via a press statement issued and signed by the board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman.

According to Sulaiman, Samha had been repeatedly warned about her alleged “crude dressing and vulgar displays,” but she reportedly continued to flout the board’s regulations, leading to her suspension and revocation of her licence.

With the suspension which takes immediate effect, Sulaiman further stated, Samha is barred from appearing in any film for the next 12 months.

The board said its decision to ban Samha was a direct response to multiple complaints that it received from the public and “concerned citizens” in Kano regarding the actress’ conducts that reportedly violated the board’s regulations.

In addition to the suspension and revocation of her licence, the board also halted the showing of any film featuring the actress during the period of the ban.

Those who support the action against the actress said it was a fulfillment of the new leadership of the board under Alhaji Abba Al-Mustapha to sanitise the Hausa film-making industry.
