EFCC Detains 10 Officers for Theft

...Action part of the house cleaning efforts of the Commission

A week after it fired 27 of its officers, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has detained 10 officers from its Lagos Zonal Command over allegations of theft.

A statement posted on the EFCC’s X account, on Wednesday, disclosed that the indicted officers were found culpable of stealing the Commission’s operational items.

The development, the agency stated, is part of an ongoing internal investigation aimed at flushing out bad eggs, and maintaining transparency and integrity within the organisation.

The statement further revealed that the arrest and detention of the indicted officers were ordered by the Commission’s Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, as part of a broader initiative to address corrupt practices and unethical behavior among the commission’s personnel.

Already, the detained officers have started telling investigators all they know about their inability to account for some operational items that grew wings under their watch.

“The officers, who were arrested last week on the directives of the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede are answering questions related to the theft of some operational items that they could not account for,” the statement on EFCC’s X account said.
