A court has ruled in favor of UFC star, Israel Adesanya, in a lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, Charlotte Powdrell.
Powdrell had demanded half of Adesanya’s estimated $15 million fortune, citing their year-long relationship.
According to reports, the court ruled in Powdrell’s favor, ordering an equal split of Adesanya’s wealth.
However, it was discovered that Adesanya’s official net worth was listed as $0.00, with no personal bank accounts in his name.
It has been reported that Adesanya’s entire $15m net-worth was being managed by his mother.
As a result, the court ordered Powdrell’s wealth to be divided between them, leaving her with $500,000 and Adesanya with the same amount.
The lawsuit was filed after the couple’s breakup, with Powdrell arguing that Adesanya ought to have married her and provided financial support.
Recall, this ruling bears resemblance to a similar case involving Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi and his ex-girlfriend.
Hakimi’s ex-girlfriend had also demanded a significant share of his wealth after their breakup, citing their long-term relationship.
However, the court ruled in Hakimi’s favor, ordering his ex-girlfriend to pay him a substantial amount due to her higher net worth.
The ruling raised widespread debate about the rights and obligations of partners in long-term relationships.
The cases of Adesanya and Hakimi show the complexities and challenges of navigating relationships and finances, particularly among high-net-worth individuals.
