Tension, Confusion in Rivers Over Result Collation
There is palpable tension in Rivers State over the result of Saturday’s gubernatorial and state assembly election as the collation centre in Port Harcourt is still deserted at 1pm on Sunday.
Jounalists, party agents and accredited election observers gathered at the centre expressed worries over the situation as no word has come from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC as to when collation would begin.
“Nothing has happened so far,” a worried Channels TV reporter said. “No news about when collation will start. No INEC officials even when they told us that collation would have started at 9am.”
Meanwhile, report from the INEC headquarters in Port Harcourt reveals that there was heavy presence of military personnel after the scuffle between a police officer and the military guys earlier in the day.
