Former US presidential candidate and first lady, Hillary Clinton, has changed her twitter bio following an interview with award winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Adichie, in an interview with Hillary at a Pen World Voices Festival lecture at the Cooper Union in Manhattan, on Sunday, April 22, had expressed displeasure over Clinton’s use of “wife” to begin her Twitter bio.
“In your Twitter account, the first word that describes you is ‘Wife.’ And then I think it’s ‘Mom,’ and then it’s ‘Grandmother’. And when I saw that, I have to confess that I felt just a little bit upset,” she said.
Clinton replied that women should be able to celebrate both their accomplishments and their relationships.
Hillary’s twitter bio which previously read: “Wife, Mom. Grandma, Women+kids advocate, FLOTUS, Senator, Sec. State, Hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, 2016 presidential candidate. Tweets from Hillary signed –H”
Now reads: “2016 Democratic Nominee, Sec. State, Senator, hair icon. Mom, Wife, Grandma x2, lawyer, advocate, fan of walks in the woods and standing up for our democracy.”
