Gov Fayemi displays rare human kindness to Ekiti Widow
Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has once again displayed an exemplary leadership in the state as he brought hope and happiness to a widow who lost her husband almost three decades ago.
Today, Mama Olufunmike Adebulugbe Ogundipe who spoke from the street on “Meet Your Governor” was brought from Ilogbo Street, Igede Ekiti and met with the Governor in his office. The excitement in mama’s face and of course her tears of joy were clear statement on the governor’s quality.
In the vox pop, she said she had just N100 left with her that very day and that three of her children (one in Ekiti) are jobless. She then appealed to the Governor to quickly re-introduce “owo arugbo”, a social security scheme for the elderly introduced by Dr Fayemi in his first term.
Guess what? This mama , a widow, got more than “owo arugbo” she had wished for.
The governor, who was touched by mama’s honest appeal, sent for her. Mama was brought in company of one of her children, Funmilayo Ogundipe .
Mama Leah Olufunmike Adebulugbe Ogundipe had lost her husband in 1994 and lost one of her children who was the bread winner of the family in 2010. Since then life has been unbearable for her.
The Governor has directed the DG Enterprise and Microfinance, Hon. Kayode Fasae to immediately give Funmilayo a temporary job while DG Employment , Labour and Productivity , Hon. Lanre Ogunjobi has been directed to capture her for permanent job when recruitment begins.
Not only that , apart from the cash gift she got from the Governor this morning, mama Ogundipe has been penciled for capturing in the social security scheme ‘owo arugbo ‘ commencing in October.
