AFCON 2019: Au revoire Aguirre as Egypt  fire Coach, FA boss resigns

Host, Egypt  have sacked the national team coach Javier Aguirre after South Africa shocked the Pharaohs out of the 32nd edition of the African Nations Cup on Saturday.

South Africa proved bookmakers wrong with a 1-0 victory over Egypt that had clean sheet in the group stages winning all their three matches.

There was a grave silence at the Cairo Stadium, as die-hard Egyptian fans could not fathom the fact that the  Pharaohs have failed  to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 2004.

Angry  Egypt Football Association (EFA) president Hany Abou-Rida immediately threw in the towel after the match  announcing his resignation while also revealing that the entire technical and administrative staff of the national team have been given the boots.

Egypt appointed the Mexican coach Aguirre after the floppy show at the 2018 World Cup in Russia where they failed to progress from the group stages as the former Japan and Mexico coach Aguirre replaced Hector Cuper signing a four-year contract last year.
