Even as the South African authorities continue to dig deep into her murder in her hotel room in Johannesburg, the remains of the Deputy Director General of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, CIIN, Mrs. Elizabeth Ndubuisi Chukwu, would be committed to mother earth in her homestead, Ihiala in Anambra State, on Friday, July 27, 2019.
Mrs. Ndubuisi Chukwu was found strangled in her hotel room in Johannesburg, on June 13, after attending the conference of the African Insurance Organisation, AIO, in the city.
After preliminary investigations and autopsy, the remains of the deputy DG of CIIN were recently flown home and deposited at a morgue in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has tasked the South Africa authorities to conduct painstaking investigation into the cruel murder and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Reacting to the crime, the Federal Government said it “condemned in very strong terms the unfortunate murder of Mrs Elizabeth Ndubuisi-Chukwu in South Africa.”
In her statement, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigeria Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, declared: “This is one death too many and cannot be swept under the carpet.”
She urged the South African authorities to rise up to their responsibilities and ensure that those behind the crime are brought to book.
The NIDCOM boss expressed optimism that the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria and the Consulate General in Johannesburg would do their best to resolve help the authorities resolve the murder.
Dabiri-Erewa condoled with the family of the deceased, on behalf of the government and Nigerians, assuring that, as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari, no Nigerian would be treated with levity and unjustly anywhere in the world.
