In a piece of surprising news, an assistant professor from the National Institute Of Technology, Rourkela, committed suicide along with his wife recently.
The couple ended their lives for being childless even after 10 years of their marriage.
They were found dead in their residence on the campus premises.
37-year-old Rasu Jayabalan and his wife, 35-year-old Malvi Kesavan’s were found dead at their residence after the neighbours sensed a foul smell coming from their home, seeing no response from inside and finding their house was locked, they called the police.
Police broke the front door and discovered the bodies. While the woman’s body was found on the bed, Jayabalan’s body was discovered in the bathroom.
The couple belonged to Tamil Nadu left a suicide note in which they wrote the reason behind their drastic step.
Rourkela Superintendent of Police, Sarthak Sarangi stated both had vomited before dying, hinting that they chose poison as the medium to die.
In the six pages long suicide note written in Tamil and English, they mentioned the reason that they were distressed over not being able to have children.
It also says that no one is to be held accountable for their deaths.
Sarangi further stated that forensic experts have examined the site and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
A major investigation is currently underway.
