The police in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, have begun a massive manhunt for a paedophile who raped a five year-old girl, leaving his victim hanging to life by a thread.
The little girl’s life in on the balance as doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, race against time to save her. She is reported to be on danger list.

But gory pictures of the seriously assaulted girl have gone viral on social media showing mutilated genitals.
Photos portraying the lesions on the private parts of the little girl which surfaced online appeared to reveal mutilations of the girl’s genitals.
The assault, doctors revealed, had damaged the girl’s rectum and womb and may be unable to walk for long time.
According to reports, some good Samaritans found the almost lifeless girl in a pool of her blood. And they rushed her to the FMC where three specialist doctors did their best to save her from what would have been obvious death.
The intervention at the Emergency and intensive care unit of the hospital involved an urgent surgery to stabilise the victim. She would go under the knife again for a major constructive surgery once she has stabilised.
“The girl’s condition still remains critical while calling on public-spirited individuals to come to the aid of the five-year-old victim,” said Mrs. Rebecca Kwabe, one of the UN women mentors in Adamawa.
Neither the hospital management, nor its Chief Medical Director, Prof. Auwal Abubakar, has issued an official statement on the traumatised girl.
