Hell For Traffic Robbers as Lagos CP Unleashes 10,000 Officers to Tackle Gridlock

By Damola Emmanuel

Prison doors are now wide open for traffic robbers who have been making life doubly difficult for Lagosians as the new Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, has promised them hell if they refuse to stop their horrific activities.

The criminals have capitalised on the deplorable state of roads in the state, as well as its attendant traffic snarl that has paralysed the city, to rob motorists languishing in the gridlocks, sometimes shooting or stabbing their victims if they refuse or delay in pandering to their wicked demands.

Well, it would no longer be business as usual as the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Odumosu, has deployed 1000 policemen to complement the efforts of sister agencies involved in traffic control to save commuters from the criminals.

The cheering news was broken, via a press statement by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Bala Elkana, who also disclosed that Odumosu arrived at the decision following an emergency meeting he held with his top officers at the command headquarters, Ikeja.

Similarly, the police boss has reviewed the working hours of traffic wardens to provide 24 hours coverage for Lagosians. Henceforth they would run shifts from 10p.m. to 10a.m.

Elkana said his principal reviewed the traffic situation in the state during the crucial meeting, and decided to end the free reign of traffic robbers.

“They will all operate in their usual reflective jackets,” said Eelkana. “The measure will help in ensuring free flow of traffic and will also curb the menace of traffic robbery,” adding that his boss covets the cooperation of Lagosians with officers while on duty.
