Buhari Greets Prof. J.P. Clark at 86

President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday, congratulated Professor Emeritus, renowned poet and playwright, J.P. Clark, who turns 86 today, Friday, December 6, 2019.

Buhari eulogised the poet for vigorously working for the development of the country in writing, teaching and coaching.

A press release from the Presidency stated that the President joined family members, friends and professional colleagues of the foremost scholar in celebrating the milestone, which has been signposted by many years of recognition and awards, including Nigerian National Order of Merit.

“As a writer,” the statement continued, “President Buhari believes J.P. Clark’s poetry, drama and literary works clearly distinguish him as a genius, whose publications inspire deep thinking and actions, especially on socio-political themes.

“As a scholar, the President salutes the Professor Emeritus, whose influence transcends the lecture theatres in Nigeria to include teaching and coaching in many universities across the world, and leaving lasting memories of discipline, focus and resilience in pursuing and sharing knowledge.

“President Buhari prays that the Almighty God will grant J.P.Clark longer life, good health and strength to keep serving the nation.”
