Performance Qualifies Dankwambo for Governor of the Year Award- HoG CEO
Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, will on June 24, be garlanded with the Governor of the Year Award by the Hall of Grace (HOG) Magazine, a Lagos based media platform reputed for honouring public servants for admirable performance. Venue of event is the Summit Centre in Lagos.
HOG awards has Former Minister of Information, Alex Akinyele as its Chairman, Board of Management, and Mr. Rupert Ojenuwa as Executive officer. The awards has been received by former governors of Lagos, Babatunde Raji Fahsola, now Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Kwara; Ahmed Mohammed and other distinguished Nigerians.
In a release on Sunday by Ojenuwa stating the reasons for electing Dankwambo as 2018 Governor of the Year in recognition of the governor’s sterling performance, he said: ” The HoG Governor of the Year Award like many know is the highest award bestowed on any sitting governor and a mark of exemplary and purposeful leadership in Nigeria. Hence, we don’t bestow it on just anybody and I must say that Gov Dankwambo who has been picked by the Board deserves this award. He is a young performer. He has raised the bar in public service. A performer per excellence and a very hardworking governor. He is one of such people who is genuinely interested in the delivery or real democratic dividends to the people.
“When we had to debate Him, we couldn’t resist his very special qualities. We wish to use the Awards Ceremony to expose these strides to the world. The Gombe governor was chosen because of his consistency in delivery of democratic dividends in Gombe. Governor Dankwambo has distinguished himself and raised the bar for public service delivery. There is hardly a week in Gombe without an inspection of one project or the other
” Dakwambo has worked extremely hard to enlist Gombe as one of the modern states in Nigeria. In every corner of the state, if he isn’t constructing road, he is building a bridge and if he isn’t building a bridge, he is renovating or constructing an hospital. I think this is what governance should be.
“We are particularly glad to have him as the Governnor of the Year because his consistency in delivery is phenomenal and can be verified. All you need to do is take a trip to Gombe and the fact stares you in the face.
“Nigeria is faced with infrastructural deficits which litters abundantly. Governance is a call to service and to register one’s name on the good books of posterity. We think that Dakwambo is the architect of modern Gombe and the good people of Gombe should be proud of him” the statement concludes.
“The HoG Awards has over the years carved a niche and made a name for itself. It has continued to encourage purposeful leadership by celebrating and honoring deserving Nigerians, some of those who have been honored by the Awards include: Alh. Atiku Abubakar, Alh. Aliko Dangote, Dr. Akinwunmi Adeshina, Capt Idris Wada, Sen..Kwakwanso, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Babatunde Fashola and other distinguished Nigerians.”
The HoG Awards this year will be honoring Atiku Abubakar, Ibrahim Dakwambo, Bukola Saraki, Ben Bruce and Shehu Sani for exemplary leadership in Nigeria. The event will hold at the Summit in Alausa, Lagos.
