Four Others May Follow
BY ABIODUN NEJO/Ado Ekiti
Deputy Chairman, Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Housing, Hon Adeniran Alagbada, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Alagbada, representing Ise/Orun Constituency, said the division created in the PDP by the adoption by the governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, of his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, as the PDP candidate for the July 14 election, informed his deciding to quit PDP.
He said at a press conference in Ado Ekiti that prominent political leaders of his constituency, including former Minister of State for Works, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye, and former state Attorney-General, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, had dumped the PDP over the development.
According to him, it is the consent of his constituents that he moves to APC aspirants the platform under which he can effectively meet their yearning and aspiration.
Alagbada said: “Withdrawal of my membership of PDP to join the APC is for better representation and effective service delivery to my people.”
APC is gaining inroads into the state House of Assembly which erstwhile had all 26 PDP members with the earlier defection of Hon Gboyega Aribisogan from PDP and that of Alagbada. There are insinuations that no fewer than four others are on their way out of PDP in the next one week.
