No less than 30 persons in Ondo State have been arraigned before a mobile court sitting in Akure, the state capital, for flouting the dusk-to-dawn curfew order of the state government imposed to forestall the spread for COVID-19.
The violators were arrested mostly in Ogbese area of the state, by the state’s COVID-19 Special Task Force Chairman, Mr Doyin Odebowale.
The chairman handed them over to the police for disciplinary actions before they were arraigned before Magistrate Bukola Ojo.
Amongst the violators, twenty-four pleaded guilty to the offence, which led the court to pardon them.
In her ruling, Magistrate Ojo sentenced the violators to community service for seven days by cutting grass for two hours around Ogbese Market.
The other accused persons were represented by Utenwojo Salihu, who applied for their bail and pleaded with the court to the cases behind closed doors.
