Agony, Tears in Ebonyi as Gunmen Kill about-to-Wed Deputy Speaker’s Aide
Ebonyi State is mourning the death of the legislative assistant to the Deputy Speaker, Obasi Odefa, hacked down in his prime by gunmen Wednesday night.
The victim is said to have concluded his wedding arrangements which would have taken place before the end of the year.
According to report, unsuspected Obasi was heading to his house after work while the gunmen trailed him and rained hot bullets into his brain. He died on the spot.
One of his colleagues, Thomas Eluu, who is the legislative aide to Deputy Leader of the House Kingsley Ikoro, confirmed the incident on his Facebook wall Wednesday night.
“My colleague at Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Kingsley Obasi, who happens to be a Legislative Aide to The Deputy Speaker shot dead today by unknown men,” he wrote.
It was further gathered that his killers also made away with his bag containing money, his wedding invitation cards and other valuables.
“Yes ,he was the one .I don’t think it was politically motivated. I think it was a case of robbery gone bad,” a family member said adding that armed robbers accosted the victim and collected his bags containing his wedding invitation cards.
“As the robbers were about to move, he was said to be shouting ‘it is armed robbers oo .It is armed robbers ooo’, then they shot him”
Police spokesman in the state confirmed the incident stating that Command is investigating the incident with a view to arresting the culprits.
