Imo Deputy Governor Impeached

...For Failure to Attend Meetings with Boss

More facts have emerged over the impeachment of Eze Madumere, erstwhile Deputy Governor of Imo State. Four major offences stood out as reasons why Madumere was removed from office on Monday. First, he was found guilty of failure to attend meetings with his boss, Governor Rochas Okorocha and other government functionaries.
Other reasons are alleged absence from office for three months without reason, failure to perform constitutional responsibilities like attendance at state executive meetings and state security council meetings. Madumere was also found guilty of concealing a certain felonious act in the United States.
Acho Ihim, the speaker of the state house of assembly told newsmen after the house session that the seven-man panel set under by the state chief judge found the embattled deputy governor guilty of all the allegations.
He was removed by 19 out 27 members of the house.

Rochas Okorocha…dancing

Outside the “gross misconduct” in the state assembly, the bone of contention between Okorocha and Madumere is the ambition of the latter to succeed his boss. The outgoing governor wants Uche Nwosu, his son-in-law to succeed him. And after what appeared like a stalemate , Okorocha attempted to placate his deputy. He asked Madumere to take a senatorial ticket , so Nwosu can run for governor. He said last February, “If Uche Nwosu will be home for governor, I will tell the deputy governor to go to the Senate”. That was after he had declared his intention to run for IMO West senatorial seat. Had the Deputy agreed he would have gotten the ticket for Imo East senatorial district.
But the deputy governor remains adamant. He said then that the offer of senatorial ticket was an act of betrayal.
