Trouble never rains for the General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, it pours.
Mired in scandalous allegations of adultery, one of his former pastors, Pastor Mike Davids, who was sacked from the church, seems hellbent on compounding Suleman’s woes.
Davids, who had accused Apostle Suleman of sleeping with his wife in the presence of his young daughter, has written a letter to the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, asking the commission to suspend the General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries and appoint an interim manager in conformity with Section 839 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.
Davids, who claimed that his estranged former boss was no longer fit to occupy the high office of General Overseer, also prayed the CAC to probe the church’s finances, Apostle Suleman’s lifestyle, and procurement of a private jet.
Pastor Davids fired the letter to the Registrar-General of the commission, Mr. Garba Abubakar, whose office acknowledged receipt on February 12, 2020.
The letter was titled: ‘Petition for the Immediate Investigation and Removal of Apostle Johnson Suleman, a Trustee of Incorporated Trustee of Omega Fire Ministry it/no: 21739 and for Closure of the Church and/or Appointment of Interim Managers to Manage the Affairs of the Church Pursuant to Section 839 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.’
In the petition, Davids said he lawfully married Pastor Faith Davids (now Edeko) under the Marriage Act on December 6, 2008, and it has not been dissolved by any court in Nigeria or elsewhere, and the union was blessed with three children.
Here are excerpts from the petition:
“I have had cause to believe that Apostle Johnson Suleman has continued to use his position as trustee and general overseer of OFM to commence an amorous relationship with my wife which has led to several acts of enticement of my wife and an adulterous relationship between the two of them.
“Beyond having sexual relations with my wife, that in clear misappropriation of the trustees’ funds and church money, Apostle Johnson Suleman opened a supermarket for my wife at Lugbe. He has bought a car for my wife and he has rented a residential apartment for my wife and children without my approval, knowledge and consent.
“Worst still, Apostle Johnson Suleman has also unlawfully restrained me from gaining access to the house to see my children. All these actions amount to clear violations of statute and the constitution and objectives of the church with respect to how church money ought to be appropriated and applied.”
On top of that, Pastor Davids also accused Apostle Suleman of assigning the Utako, Abuja branch of the church to his wife, appointing her as the Head Pastor. From his experience with his former boss, Davids insisted that he may not be the only pastor to have suffered the ugly fate in the hand of Suleiman.
He, therefore, concluded that: “Consequently, pursuant to Section 839 of CAMA, 2020, I humbly request of the commission to immediately cause investigation into flagrant misconduct and mismanagement of Omega Fire Ministries with a view to removal and/or suspension of Apostle Johnson Suleman and the entire Trusteeship of the Church in the best interest of the public. It is simply in public interest.”
On last month, Davids had petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, accusing Suleman of threatening his life and hypnotizing his wife.
But after he and Davids’ wife, Pastor Faith Edeko, had rubbished the story as fallacy, Suleman wrote to the IGP, demanding Davids’ arrest and investigation for blackmail.
