Although The Crest has not been able to independently verify the breaking news, there are strong indications that oil magnate, Femi Otedola, may have decided to run for governor in Lagos State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Ovation Publisher, Dele Momodu, broke the news on his twitter handle, Tuesday, stating that the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Forte Oil is set to join the race for Alausa.
Momodu, who also publishes the online newspaper, The Boss, announced on his twitter handle that the billionaire business mogul may buy the PDP nomination and indication of interest forms any moment from now.
“Lagos 2019 promises to be interesting. PDP offers Femi Otedola governorship ticket. He’s accepted and personally confirmed to The Boss newspaper,” Momou tweeted @DeleMomodu.
The race to Alausa, the Lagos seat of government, promises to be one helluva of a fight if Otedola scales through the PDP primaries and incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, does the same on the platform of APC.
The road to the APC primaries and ticket may not be a smooth ride for Ambode because there is now no love lost between the governor and his political godfather, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who, according to reports, may have withdrawn support for the governor’s second term bid, in preference for Babajide Sanwoolu, a former Commissioner in the state.
