Hours after leaving Anambra Government House, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Thursday night, arrested the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Willie Obiano at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.
Operatives of the anti-graft agency pounced on Obiano at about 8p.m. as he attempted to flee Nigeria to Houston, Texas in the United State.
The EFCC had not issued a statement as at the time of filing this report.
But sources said Aguleri-born Obiano, who turns 67 on August 8, this year, was arrested in connection with alleged financial impropriety that he reportedly committed while he held sway as governor between March 17, 2014 and March 17, 2022.
