Melaye Proves Gov Wike Wrong, Emerges Kogi PDP Guber Ccandidate

Senator Dino Melaye on Sunday emerged as the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for the November 11 Kogi State guber election.

Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi, the chairman of the PDP primary election committee announced this shortly after the primary election in Lokoja.

Makarfi said that Melaye who represented Kogi West at the National Assembly, scored 313 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ilona Idoko-Kingsley, who scored 124 votes, while Usman Mohammed Kabiru scored 121 votes to place third.

He said that Abayomi Awoniyi-Sunday scored 77 votes to emerge forth, while Wada Musa scored 56 votes to place fifth.

Makarfi named others to include Ojaja Gideon-Enama 5 votes and Olufemi Olarewaju 2 votes.

He said that the election was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere.

“On behalf of the PDP primary election committee, I wish to congratulate Dino Melaye, the winner of the primary, the state party leaders and members for their cooperation and support toward a peaceful primary election,” he said.
