The Senate on Thursday confirmed the new service chiefs appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
The service chiefs confirmed on Thursday are Maj. Gen. Christopher G. Musa (Chief of Defence Staff); Maj. Gen. Taoreed A. Lagbaja (Chief of Army Staff); Rear Admiral Emmanuel A. Ogalla (Chief of Naval Staff), and AVM Hassan B. Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff).Their confirmation followed the screening carried out by the Senate.
The screening was started with each of the service chiefs mounting the podium and speaking about how they would address the state of insecurity in the country.
The Senate continued the screening at a closed session where they were said to have answered questions bordering on defence and other relevant issues.
It would be recalled that President Tinubu last week wrote a letter to the National Assembly to seek the confirmation of the service chiefs.
His request, he said, was based on Section 18(1) of the armed forces act. CAP A20 laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004.
