Gbongan Celebrates Dele Momodu Today as He’s Installed Akinrogun, the Generalissimo
Gbongan, headquarters of the Aiyedaade Local Government Area of Osun State, will, today, stand still for the Chairman of Ovation Media Group, and a former presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Aare Dele Momodu, as he adds another flowery feather to his crowded cap of honours.
As a mark of recognition for his diligence and commitment to society and country, the town’s paramount ruler, Oba Adetoyese Odugbemi I, the Olufi of Gbonganland, will install the firebrand journalist as the Akinrogun of Gbonganland. Momodu’s delectable wife, Lady Mobolaji, will also be installed as the Yeye Akinrogun of Gbonganland.
Momodu and his wife will be personally decorated with the chieftaincy titles and instruments by Oba Odugbemi who marks his 25th anniversary on the throne of his forefathers with some epochal events today.
A release by the palace of the Olufi stated that the decision to honour Momodu with a chieftaincy title in Gbonganland was informed by his “many selfless contributions to improving humanity.”
Of particular interest, according to the statement, is Momodu’s gigantic efforts at reporting the dynamics of governance at various levels, informing the public about the workings of the heart and minds of their leaders, and helping to engender good governance.
Though Momodu has lost count of how many Chieftaincy titles and other honours he has been given in Nigeria and abroad, he said he will cherish the latest honour of Akinrogun of Gbonganland for as long as he lives.
“I’m grateful to God that this prophet (Dele Momodu) has honour among his people,” the media mogul enthuses. “These titles are some of the best things to happen to my wife and I. We shall forever be grateful to our highly revered Father, Kaabiyesi Oba Adetoyese Odugbemi I, and his Chiefs for finding us worthy. We are very grateful to God and the Palace for the honour.”
As already stated, Momodu and his dutiful wife have been honoured with a plethora of titles at home and abroad.
Recall that in October 2021, the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrasheed Akanbi, Telu l, installed the pair as the Aare Tayese of Iwoland and Yeye Aare Tayese of Iwoland, respectively. The Oluwo recognized Momodu’s steadfastness to his ideals, refusing to turn his back on what he thinks is right.
The good book says in Proverbs 22:9: Seeth thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” Also the motto of the founding Fathers of Gbonganland is: “Never is a horse gained in legacy by an idle man.” In other words, only the diligent wins trophies.
These timeless lines find true expression in Aare Dele Momodu, who, conquered deprivations as a child to hit the zenith of his chosen profession of journalism. By sheer commitment and hard work, the Ovation publisher became a modern-day King Midas in Greek mythology who had the uncanny ability of turning everything he touched into pure gold.
The Crest says hefty congratulations to the Akinrogun of Gbonganland, Aare Dele Momodu (born: Ayòbámidélé Àbáyòmí Ojútelégàn Àjàní Momodu).
