Atiku Petitions US, UK, 3 Others World Powers Over Buhari

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has dragged President Muhammadu Buhari before  the governments of the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the European Union over what he called Buhari’s penchant for alleged undemocratic actions and infractions.

In a petition to the  Super powers, which was made available to journalists, on Tuesday, and dated January 27, Atiku is appealing to the world powers to call the Nigerian president to order.

Atiku alleged that President Buhari was threatening Nigeria’s democracy by “serially breaching the provisions of the nation’s Constitution” and “undermining organs and institutions of State in order to advance his personal interest.”

Atiku listed the alleged infractions to include the suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen; the purchase of the Tucano Aircraft; Executive Order No. 006 (On preservation of suspicious assets and related schedules); the approval of $1 billion for military expenditure before approaching the National Assembly and disregard for orders of courts, among others.
