Love is in the air. And the arrow of Cupid, the god of love, attraction and affection, has struck the 15th Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, again. Yes, the Yoruba generalissimo is swimming in the aquamarine of love a second time and has tied the knots with his second wife.
The charming lady whose enthralling beauty metaphorically pulled the Aare Onakakanfo out of his own hat is a former beauty queen and physiology graduate of the Delta State University, DELSU, Joy Ayomide, daughter of a Lagos-based architect, Lucky Onojaife.
On Saturday, December 9, 2023, the Generalissimo married his new heartthrob at a very private ceremony at the bride’s parents’ house in Lagos.
Indeed, joyful celebrations have never been in short supply in the home of the Aare Onakakanfo, as the Yoruba leader and his family move from one level of accomplishment to another amid profound joy.
For instance, in 2020, the Aare Onakakanfo’s delectable first wife, Erelu Mojisola Adams, gave birth to two bundles of joy, a beautiful set of twins. Now, the Family is celebrating again.
Last Saturday, family members, friends, members of the Aare-in-Council, and other dignitaries gathered to witness the private but classy engagement and traditional wedding ceremony.
Among eminent Nigerians that shared the beautiful moments with the Aare and his bride are:
His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Nasiru Lawal Ogunronbi, Ariwajoye, Oba of Shasha Kingdom in Lagos State , who led the groom’s party; and the Parakoyi Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Professor Kolawole Raheem, who led other members of the Aare-in-Council to the event.
The members of the Aare-in-Council that attended included: Atoloye Aare Onakakanfo, Chief Babajide Tanimowo; Barejiro Aare Onakakanfo, Chief Dauda Asikolaye; Asoju Aare Onakakanfo, Chief Yinka Oguntimehin; and the Akinrogun Aare Onakakanfo, Chief Kazeem Hamzat.
Others are: former Chief Press Secretary to Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, Chief Olusegun Smart Ajiboye; Member of the Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF), Ambassador Olugbenga Onasanya; Aare’s aides on: media, Kehinde Aderemi; Special Duties, Samson Oseni; and Gani Adams Foundation, Tolu Ajibade; and others.

- Ayinba Joy Adams is an Urhobo from Delta State.
- She is the daughter of a Lagos-based architect, Lucky Onojaife.
- Though record of her date of birth was not available at press time, she had her both elementary and secondary school education in Lagos, with the latter at Queen Maris College.
- A graduate of Physiology from Delta State University (DELSU), she is currently studying for her Master’s Degree.
- Joy is a former Beauty Queen. Among others, she once held the prestigious Miss Delta and the Most Beautiful Girl in Urhobo land in 2012.
- Joy loaves music with great passion. She believes in the saying that music is the food of love and the soul.
- Her favourite colours are white and Brown.
- Her major hobbies are reading, watching movies, good music that soothes the soul.
