Kidnapped ex-Kano Assembly Speaker’s Mum Released After N40 million ransom

Former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Alhaji, has revealed that he paid N40 million ransom to kidnappers who seized his mother at gunpoint, upper Wednesday, to secure the woman’s release.

Hajiya Zainab Danja, who was kidnapped on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, was released early Tuesday morning by her abductors after the payment was made, the former Speaker, now Minority Leader of the House, told journalists while breaking the news.

Hajiya Danja, was abducted at her family house at Gezawa town, Gezawa local government area of Kano.

Despite paying the staggering sum for the woman’s release, Danja said he was profoundly grateful to God for returning his aged mother to the family alive and in one piece.

But Dania, a dyed-in-the-wool Kwankwaso loyalist, would not disclose whether security agents were involved in the search and eventual release of his mother. He only disclosed that after the payment, the dare-devil criminals just dumped the old woman in a village at a local government in Jigawa State where the family went to pick her up.

The minority leader who said he would not disclose further information about the negotiation that led to the release of his mother for security reasons revealed the old woman was found terrified.
