Angry Mob Prevents Firefighters from Working As Fire Guts Alaba International Market
The Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos has been gutted by fire, according to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service as angry mob were reported to have prevented the fire fighters from putting the fire off.
The agency’s director, Adeseye Margaret, made this known in a situation report on Friday, noting that efforts were underway to put out the inferno.
However, firefighters from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu and Ajegunle were said to have been prevented by an angry mob from putting out the fire.
She said: “Emergency Alert! Report reaching Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service indicates shops at the popular Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos are on Fire.
“However, Fire Crew from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu and Ajegunle are being turned back by angry mobs from performing their statutory duty but presently on standby.”
“The agency is consequently collaborating with Security agents to address it,” she added.
