The Federal Government has finally approved the postponement of the National Sports Festival tagged Edo 2020.
The postponement is attributable to the coronavirus epidemic for which Nigeria has recorded three confirmed cases.
The Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, in a series of tweets on Tuesday, said the postponement was to safeguard the spread of the virus in the country.
The National Sports Festival was to start this weekend March 22 and end on April 1 in Benin.
Sports enthusiasts have in their thousands called on the Federal government to act fast by postponing the events like most other major events have been cancelled all over the world.
