Ode to the Dance of Youth -Kayode Ajulo
In the heart of Akure, we gathered as one,
Under neon lights, where our dreams were spun.
The John Players Goal Leaf Disco Dancing Competition, a chance to ignite,
With rhythm and passion, we danced through the night.
Oh, the Adegbemile, where legends were born,
Feet flying like whispers, from dusk until dawn.
D’Rovan in Ibadan, a stage so alive,
With friends by my side, we would twirl, we would dive.
The National Theatre, a temple of grace,
Each step that we took, a journey, a race.
Isaac Chinagorom, your spirit we feel,
Charles H., your moves, they ignited our zeal.
Anjelu Orisa Onijo, with elegance rare,
Bolu’s fierce passion, Jumoke Orombo’s flair.
The Annunciation boys, with laughter and cheer,
And Baba D, guiding us year after year.
We danced for a dream, to represent our land,
In the world’s grand arena, together we’d stand.
Though time may have passed, those moments remain,
I still feel the steps, like a sweet, gentle rain.
Oh, how we strove, with each beat of the drum,
In the echoes of youth, we still hear the hum.
So here’s to the dancers, the memories we weave,
In the heart of a dreamer, we’ll always believe.
