Gunmen Kill Borno Assistant Commissioner of Police in Calabar

An Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Egbe Edum, has been murdered by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday in Calabar.

The Cross River State Police Command confirmed the gruesome killing of Edum who, until his tragic death, was an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) with the Borno State Police Command.

According to a report monitored on Channels Television in Lagos, Wednesday, the spokesperson of the state police command, Ms. Irene Ugbe, said the ACP had travelled to the Cross River State capital “to see his family after being away for a very long time.”

Egbe further revealed that the late Edum was attacked while he was waiting for his wife to pick him up after his car broke down along the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar.

The ACP was reported to have been savagely matchetted on the head and lower abdomen by the criminals who then bolted after their dastardly act.
