BREAKING: Police Rescue One of Kidnapped RCCG Pastors

The police report from Ogun State has confirmed that  one of the members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, kidnapped in Ogun State on Thursday has been rescued

The rescued victim is the only female among those kidnapped and she is Mrs Ibelegbo Chidinma, a deaconess.

Others yet to be rescued are Chidioze Eluwa, Chiemela Iroha, Okoro Ohowukwe and Ndubuizi Owuabueze.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement issued on Saturday said the RCCG member was rescued in the early hours of the day.

The statement reads: “The Ogun State police command wishes to inform the general public that one of the kidnap victims, Mrs Ibelegbo Chidinma, the only woman amongst them has been rescued unhurt.

“The woman who is a Deaconess of The Redeem Christian Church of God regained her freedom in the early hours of today 3rd of August 2019 and she is currently at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta where arrangement is being made to take her to the Redemption Camp.

“Efforts are in top gear to rescue the remaining victims as the kidnappers who kept them in separate locations were changing their locations from time to time within the forest.

“The command hereby wishes to assure members of the public that the remaining victims will soon be rescued.”

General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, announced the kidnapping of the five pastors on Friday while addressing the congregation of the church at the camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The pastors were on their way to attend the church’s ministers’ conference in Lagos when they were kidnapped, he said.

Following the announcement, the police commenced work and announced that the location of the kidnappers had been known and that the team led by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, had already embarked on the operation rescue operation.

The police however said care was being taken to ensure the victims were safely rescued.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police PRO said that the team was still on the trail of the kidnappers with the aim of safely rescuing the remaining victims.
