House-to-House Search For COVID-19 Patients Begins In Lagos
Lagos State Government has begun a house-to-house movement to identify possible cases of COVID-19 in the state.
This was revealed in a statement from the Lagos State Ministry of Health on Thursday.
In the statement, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, was quoted to have said this during a joint ministerial news conference on COVID-19 in Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday.
The Commissioner said the operation is expected to run for two weeks in the first instance across all local governments in the state. The campaign has been tagged ‘Community Active Case Search’.
He said those tasked with the exercise would carry official tags from the local governments as a means of identification.
He said, “In the coming days, some of our health workers will be moving around in pairs to administer an electronic questionnaire at homes and healthcare facilities to make enquiries about symptoms of cough, cold and fever.
“This is in a bid to intensify our search for possible cases of COVID-19 in different communities across the state. I implore you to give them your maximum support by providing accurate information that would help in containing this pandemic quickly.”
