George Floyd: US Embassy Alerts Its Citizens In Nigeria
The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued out a stern warning to its citizens against staging a protest against the killing of George Floyd at its consulate office in Walter Carrington Crescent.
Reports said some Nigerians had earlier announced plans to hold a protest over the killing of Floyd, a black man, at the US consulate in Lagos.
Recall, on Tuesday, some Nigerian protesters demonstrated at the US embassy in Abuja.
The protesters were vocal about ending racial discrimination.
The US Embassy, in a “demonstration alert” published on its website, urged its citizens to be vigilant around their surroundings.
“The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos has received reports that demonstrators plan to gather in front of the Consulate on Wednesday, June 03, 2020 to protest current events in the United States. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence,” the alert read.
