This may make many men, especially those who play ‘away game’, as cheating is called in local parlance, shudder. They would be shocked by a recent research that shows that women cheat as much as men do. And women who ‘play’ away games may have so mastered the art of cheating that catching them red-handed may be as herculean a task as detectives tracing the activities of a drug baron who appears clean.
Perhaps, the societal norm that expects women to be loyal to their partners regardless of the hell they may be going through in their relationship may be responsible for the high level of secrecy women display in the game.
Recently, there have been a surfeit of reports in the media of how some men discovered that the children they had been fathering for years are not theirs after all. One of such stories that shook the country recently involved the former Managing Director of the First City Monument Bank, FCMB, Mr. Adam Nuru. He was widely reported to be the father of one of the two children that one Mrs. Moyo Thomas, a former employee of the bank, had for her husband, Mr. Tunde Thomas.
Mrs. Moyo Thomas reportedly let the cat out of the bag on her way to the United States of America when she reportedly phoned her husband to tell him he was not the father of their children.
The disclosure, according to reports, was too heavy for Tunde Thomas to bear and he suffered a stroke.
The scandal which broke out when Tunde Thomas died from depression on December 16, 2020, forced Mr. Adam Nuru to step down as Managing Director of FCMB.
On January 28, 2021, a judge, Justice Anthony Okorodas, triggered a quiet storm when he announced that he was not the father of the three children his ex-wife reportedly had with him. The startling revelation followed the result of the DNA test performed on the kids.
Though cheating or adultery is almost as old as creation, the weird dimension and increasing spread it has taken in is There are widespread reports of startling paternity controversies as recent times have made relationship experts to examine women seem to be smarter than men in the game. Some have even posited that women are expert at cheating.
Now, the big question is: What are the factors that push the sisters to cheat on their partners or commit adultery?
Consider these 10 reasons why they now play the game even on a more alarming scale than men:
- Boredom and Loneliness: Studies have shown that boredom would push a woman to cheat on her partner. Boredom can come from a lack of attention from her partner or the woman wanting to be adventurous, if she thinks the routine she is used to is boring.
- When she is unappreciated: A woman would resort to cheating if she isn’t appreciated enough. She wants to feel the vivaciousness, and attention she was getting in her youth. She wants someone who appreciates the little things every time. If she doesn’t get it from her partner, she would look elsewhere, and an “emotional affair” can quickly metamorphose into a physical affair.
- Lack of self-esteem: Women get to a state where they feel unattractive, old and would go to any length to seek for a revalidation of their beauty or self-worth.
- To feel excited, adventurous: The lure of excitement from a total stranger who satisfies their attention, emotionally and otherwise, may play a role in why women cheat. They just want to feel alive again, feel men chasing them, the suspense, the theatrics, all of these push women to cheat.
- To end the relationship: If realising that after their partner has been cheating, and isn’t showing any form of remorse, they would go all out to prove a point, and perhaps cutting off ties is the endgame.
- Wild desires: Some women think their partner should satisfy all their desires 24/7. If they do not get that from their partners, they go out there and subsequently cheat to get what they want.
- Responding to childhood sexual trauma: A woman’s childhood trauma can play a role in how sexually active they get. In most scenarios, they would seek for sexual partners aside from their spouse.
- Revenge: A woman will cheat to get back at her cheating spouse. A way of her getting revenge.
- To feel heard: Women want to be heard. They want what they say to matter. They want to feel like they matter to somebody. If they don’t get this with their partners, there is the high tendency that they will look for it in any man who gives them priority.
- Immature Understanding of Love: The rush of romance after the first three years of marriage may die down. After this, the relationship isn’t based on cuddles, kisses, and all the romantic stuff. What would matter now is a level of intimacy that is beyond the physical expression. If a woman doesn’t understand this, she would assume that the man’s apparent lack of sizzling romance has died, and moving on to another man would be the best option.
