[Full List] Senate now in Full Gear as Akpabio Unveils 74 Committees; Names Chairs

The 10^th Senate engaged its machine in full throttle on Monday as its President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, unveiled 74 standing committees, naming their chairpersons.

The committees, produced after hours of closed-door sessions, had the immediate past Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, incumbent Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, and some former governors clinch plum committees.

While former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, got the Housing and Urban Development portfolio, ex-Edo State Governor, and former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Adams Oshiomole, heads the Committee on Interior. Former Senate President, Ahmed Lawan got the powerful Defence portfolio as the fourth civilian Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari Governor got Water Resources, and ex-Ogun State helmsman, Senator Gbenga Daniel, Navy.

Other former state Governors who got plum committees include: Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia)-Privatisation, and Senator Seriake Dickson, Ecological and Climate Change.

Others are Constitutional Amendment-Senator Jibrin Barau; Airforce-Senator Godiya; Akwashiki; Aviation-Senator Buhari Abdulfatai; Capital Market-Senator Osita Izunaso; Establishment and public services-Senator Cyril Fasuyi.
