The festering royal crisis in the Kano Emirate got messier on Monday as the Kano State government announced that Emir Muhammad Sanusi II has been dethroned.
Kano State Government also revealed that a new Emir will be announced shortly.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said the removal was with immediate effect. The emir’s action, he said, was a gross violation of part 3 section A-E of Kano State law, hence the removal.
He said the removal was in line with consultation with relevant stakeholders.
