Aregbesola Is Awolowo Of Our Time- Minister

Mallam Adamu Adamu, minister for education has said that Rauf Aregbesola , governor of Osun State has brought back the popular education policy championed by the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo who was premier of the defunct Western Region.
Adamu said this at the commissioning of the 3,000 students capacity ultra modern Ayedaade Government High school, Ikire on Tuesday. The minister said, “I am old enough to have experienced what the late Chief Obafemi Awol did and achieved in the education sector during his time. Awolowo ensured that every child no matter the background gets the best of education. Aregbesola is rekindling that today through what he is doing in the education sector.”
The minister also said that even his ministry is interested in adopting the model by the governor to address the problem of education in the country. Hear him: “The school feeding programme which Aregbesola started fully and the modern school structures being built is enough to increase enrolment in school and that is what the federal ministry of education is clamouring for.”
While stating that Aregbesola has turned the state to a metropolitan state, Adamu rated Osun higher than other states of the federation in the area of development of education. He commended the determination of the Aregbesola administration to set a good foundation for development in the state. He said, “What I have seen on ground in Osun is not found in any state of the federation, it is really unprecedented”.
The governor, earlier in his address stated that the conviction to do what his government had done was informed by the fact that majority of pupils actually attend public school. He said, “We seriously need to bring back the lost glory of our public schools because that is where we have majority of pupils and they also deserve the best. This is why this administration has been investing hugely in the education sector”.
