Ogun PDP Crisis Escalates as Party Expels Adebutu, 4 Others

The internal political inferno raging within the Ogun State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, snowballed on Thursday, claiming its biggest casualty yet.

The party expelled one of its former governorship aspirants, Ladi Adebutu, and four others, for alleged manipulation of the delegates’ list used in conducting the May 25, 2022 governorship primary as well as alleged disobedience to a court order.

Adebutu, who was initially suspended on October 25, 2022, finally got the hammer alongside four others on Thursday.
The party’s Working Committee said Adebutu along with Taiwo Akinlabi, Sunday Solarin, Kayode Adebayo and Akinloye Bankole got the boot following the review of the report of a five-man disciplinary panel set up to look into the allegations of anti-party, indiscipline, division and acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute.

In a statement, chairman of the disciplinary committee, Hon. Akintunde Mufutau, said: “After a thorough review of the allegation levelled against them, the panel found Adebutu and others guilty. Subsequently, they have been recommended for expulsion and same has been communicated to the necessary organs of the party for ratification.”
