Atiku Expresses Disappointment Over Management Of Supplementary Polls
The March 23 supplementary polls has continued to receive nationwide condemnation as it is said to have been marred by irregularities across the states.
The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general election, Atiku Abubakar, has said that more was expected with regard to the management of the supplementary polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Atiku in a statement via Twitter noted that on account of the much-reduced coverage areas, it was expected that the supplementary polls would be better managed.
“Preliminary report indicates violence and intimidation has characterised the supplementary elections in parts of the country. We would have expected better management of the polls on account of much reduced coverage areas” Atiku stated.
He however congratulated Governors Ortom and Aminu Tambuwal for their victories.
“The people of Benue State have not only made their choice, but most importantly, they have made the right choice. Congratulations on your successful re-election”.
“I congratulate His Excellency, Governor Aminu Tambuwal on his re-election and I assure the good people of Sokoto state that they have made the right decision that will see them continue on the path to peace, progress and prosperity.”
