Finally, embattled Nigeria’s former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has been jailed for nine years and eight months in prison for organ trafficking plot by the United Kingdom court on Friday.
The court also sentenced his wife, Beatrice, to four years, six months while the medical doctor who acted as a ‘middleman’ in the plot, Dr Obinna Obeta, was sentenced 10 years and his medical licence also suspended.
The court has convicted Ekweremadu, his wife and Obeta in March 2022 after they were accused of organ-trafficking plot by bringing 21-year-old man, David Ukpo Nwamini to the UK from Lagos.
