Russia, on Sunday, reported 8,984 new cases of the novel coronavirus in just 24 hours. This is the highest daily cases reported in the country.
These cases push the total number of infections to 467,673.
The fatalities reported were 134, bringing the official nationwide death toll to 5,859.
President Vladimir Putin announced lockdown easing measures on May 12, 2020. Since that time, the numbers of new cases have outweighed recoveries.
This has raised questions whether the country would have to impose the lockdown measures, again.
