Mahama appoints Julius Debrah Chief of Staff; Sets to Hit the Ground Running

In fulfilment of his campaign promise to employ competent, tested and trusted hands to deliver his vision for Ghana’s progress, John Dramani Mahama, who is being sworn in President in Accra, this morning, has appointed a crack team to give his administration a flying start.

The list was unveiled Monday, the eve of his official inauguration as President today, Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

The team comprises of highly experienced professionals and political stalwarts, and their appointments take effect from today, Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

As most Ghanaians had expected, Chief Julius Debrah, former Eastern Region Minister, ex-Local Government Minister, and Chief of Staff to President Mahama in his first term, leads the crack team.

A statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a Special Aide to the President-elect, named all the appointees as:

  1. Julius Debrah – Chief of Staff
  2. Callistus Mahama – Executive Secretary to the President
  3. Prosper Douglas Bani – Interim Security Taskforce.
  4. Valerie Sawyerr-Senior Presidential Advisor, Governmental Affairs
  5. Augustus Goosie Tannoh – Presidential Advisor, 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development
  6. Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew – Legal Counsel to the President of Ghana.
  7. Felix Kwakye Ofosu – Acting Spokesperson to the President.

“These appointments take effect from Tuesday, January 7th, 2025,” the statement confirmed.

The new Chief of Staff received Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, on Monday, ahead of the inauguration which is expected to be attended by many African leaders.

Tinubu wears dual caps at today’s inauguration; first as Nigeria’s President, and second- as Chairman of the ECOWAS Heads of Government.

Besides, the two Presidents have been long-standing friends.
