Female Students Sniper War: OAU Management Speaks

The management of the  Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has given insight into the sniper war between two female students at the Mozambique Hall, recently. A female student was accused of pouring sniper insecticide on the body of a fellow student.
Anxiety broke out on Saturday when news spread like wild fire that a fight between two students had led to pouring dangerous substance on one of them.
The  report even added that the culprit poured it into the victim’s mouth, which led to an outrage and the rushing of the victim to the school’s teaching hospital.
But speaking on the matter on Saturday night, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, revealed that the act was a retaliation after one of the students involved had poured the substance on the bed of the other student.
Saying the victim was at present okay after she had been treated at the teaching hospital.

Olanrewaju said: “Earlier, one of those involved had poured the substance on the bed of the other. She said it was a mistake as she noted that she only meant to kill mosquitoes. A scuffle broke out because the act enraged the owner of the bed space. The school porter had to intervene when the matter was reported to her.
“Unfortunately, the person affected felt she had cause to fight back by pouring sniper on the first accused body. The university management has immediately intervened and everything is settled now. The student rushed to the hospital has been properly treated and all is now settled.
“The university, parents and other stakeholders must continue to counsel students on the need to leave in peace with one another and the need to avoid any substance or object that can be harmful.”
