BY DAMOLA EMMANUEL
Udeme Otike-Odibi, the female Lagos lawyer who allegedly stabbed her husband, Symphorosa Otike-Odibi, also a lawyer, dead, is to cool her heels at the Kirikiri Minimum Prison, Lagos.
That was the order of Justice Adedayo Akintoye, who, on Monday, said the suspect be remanded in the prison shortly after she was arraigned in court. She was charged for murder.
During the court session, the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions had alleged that 48-year-old Mrs. Udeme Otike-Odibi stabbed Symphorosa, her 50-year-old husband, dead at their residence on May 3, this year.
Babatunde Sunmonu, the state prosecuting counsel, told the court that Mrs. Otike-Odibi had earlier threatened to kill her husband and she actually made good her threat.
The counsel gave gory details of the alleged murder, informing the court that after murdering her husband, the suspect butchered the body by severing the genitals. This, the counsel said, was in contravention of sections 165(b) and 222 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Mrs.Udeme Otike-Odibi pleaded not guilty to the charge and Justice Adedayo Akintoye adjourned the case till October 8, 2018, for commencement of trial.
Meanwhile, the suspect will cool her heels at the Kirikiri Minimum Prison.
