As the deaths from the coronavirus pandemic in Kano City skyrocket, the Nigeria Police Force has been plunged into mourning following the death of one of its finest crime fighters and officers.
Atiku Nagodi, Commander of the Nigerian Mobile Police (MOPOL 9) and Assistant Commissioner of Police, has died.
A report on Channels Television website said the crack crime-fighter passed on in his residence along Bayero University Kano (BUK) Road, Kano, having been ill for a fairly long time.
Confirming the officer’s death, the Kano Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, said the late MOPOL Commander served in many police formations before his deployment as MOPOL 9 Commander.
“He did not die of coronavirus,” kIyawa said, adding, “he died after protracted illness.”
