Aside the drums and cymbals rolled out during the investiture of Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu, Ondo State First Lady, as the Ada I of Owerri, Imo State, last weekend, Chairman of the Ikale Development Heritage, Otunba Sola Olatunji says the trail blazer deserves more garlands as she has impacted many lives.
“The Ondo First Lady deserves whatever great honour bestowed on her,” Olatunji said in a chat with The Crest. “She is one woman whose heart beats for humanity. In fact, she is a paragon of selfless service to humanity.
“The IHDA joins millions of Nigerians to celebrate Her Excellency for what she has done to impact positively on people’s lives and what she stands for. That’s why I call her the trail blazer of this era.”
Describing her as an astute leader of men and women, Olatunji stressed that the Ada I title is a clarion call on Betty Akeredolu to do more for humanity.
“The war against breast cancer and empowerment of the girl-child with skills through her Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu Foundation – stands her out among equals.
“Her desire to fight breast cancer to a standstill in the country was what led to the creation of Breast Cancer Awareness in Nigeria, BRECAN, Nigeria’s foremost, non-governmental organization in the forefront of raising awareness about the scourge of breast cancer.
“BRECAN also undertakes research about the ailment aside from pooling resources to help those suffering from it getting timely and quality and affordable treatment heavily subsidized by the organization.”
Apart from being a bridge builder, Olatunji believes that the First Lady’s establishment of BEMORE is a credit to her in the advocacy for more women holding leadership positions at the highest level of governance.
“It is on record that over 1,000 girls, mostly from poor backgrounds, in the country have been trained in various aspects of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) which include programming, artificial intelligence, computer hardware, and software, internet appreciation and data analytics.
